Ducks on the (cement) pond:

One reason I'll miss the old house, and having a pool: We had several pairs of ducks that would nest every spring in the shrubbery around our pool. Anne Marie hated them, but I thought it was kind of neat. They'd hatch between 8 and 12 eggs, spend 1 day learning to swim in the pool, then waddle down to the creek (often down the alley) and disappear, presumably to head to White Rock Lake. Obviously, the kids loved the ducks. When it was near hatching time, the ducks would land on the pool even if we were swimming in it.

Update: as Karl Rivas pointed out, I traded a dozen Dallas ducks for Three French Hens.
